The Installation of Officers Dinner Dance was held on Friday, June 14, 2002 at Good Time Charlies, in Kingston. A laurel and hardy handshake to Chairperson Charley Devany, and his wife Carolyn, for making the evening so enjoyable.
Many Thanks to those brave members who volunteered to sell 50/50 Tickets at the Trenton Thunder game and showed up in the middle of the summers worst storm. The game was cancelled and we have been given a replacement game on Thursday, July 18. We need at least six (6) members to sell tickets, but the more volunteers we have, the more tickets well sell. Tickets can be sold by anyone over 18 years old, so bring your spouse, older kids, or prospective members. Ticket sellers get in free and get a hot dog and a soda on the Club. Or, bring the family (we only sell tickets until the end of the 6th inning), and after the game, enjoy the fireworks in the stadium. Anyone interested should contact Lion Bob Virgadamo.
The Member Pick-Up Volunteer Sheet is circulating at meetings. As we all know, some of our members cant drive and need a lift to meetings. Please sign-up for a pick-up assignment.
The Cranbury Lions Second Annual Picnic will be held this year at the Cranbury Pool on Saturday, July 27, 2002, beginning at 5:00PM. This event is open to all Lions, their families and invited guests, but reservations must be made before the event. Additional details will be available shortly. You can reserve a spot using the sign-up sheet going around at meetings or through the Picnic Chairperson, Lion Joe Carroll.
The Cranbury Lions will sponsor our Third Annual Trenton Thunder Game at Riverside Stadium. As always, the entire Town is invited. We have blocked 100 tickets on the third base side. The tickets are @$8. The difference from past years is that this year we are only doing seats, rather than the more expensive picnic area. So, bring your kids, your grandkids, your neighbors enjoy the game and then the fireworks display afterwards. The game date is Saturday, August 10th. Reservations must be to Bob Virgadamo no later than July 11th.
The 2002-03 USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum will be held in Fort Worth, Texas on September 19-21, 2002. Anyone wishing to attend should notify Lions Tom Reilly or Bob Virgadamo
Reminders
There are many of you who have e-mail capability, but are still receiving The Jargon via regular mail. Since we started sending the newsletter via e-mail, we have saved over $400 in postage expense, and now with postage increasing yet again, we ask that everyone with e-mail capability, please notify the Editor of your e-mail address by phone or via e-mail at BobV@cranbury.org. Your participation in this program benefits all of us; your e-mail address will not be distributed outside of the Club, and will only be used for The Jargon and other necessary Club business. Thank you.
We ask that all members check the Cranbury Lions Club Directory of Members, which has been placed on a secured page on the website, and submit all corrections, additions, and other changes to Lions Dave Shaffer. The Directory can be printed directly from the site when needed. All members have been given the appropriate passwords to gain access. If you have forgotten the logon and/or password, or if you were not at the meeting where the security codes were given, please contact Information and Technology Chair Dave Shaffer, at daves@cranbury.org, and request the access information.
Any member who learns of the sickness or death of another member, or in a members family, or any other similar incident or emergency, should contact Bob Virgadamo to activate the phone tree, so that all members may be notified.
Lets help our Program Chair, Frank Marlowe. We all come in contact with someone interesting on a regular basis; when you do, or if you have any suggestions for speakers, please give Frank a call.
Advertising has become a major fundraiser, and fundraising is everyones responsibility. Please provide a helping hand by directing all advertising leads to Lion Gene Buckley on-line at genebuck@hotmail.com
Our regular meeting schedule will be interrupted, temporarily,
in January 2003. January 1st is
the First Wednesday. For the month of January 2003, only, the Cranbury Lions
Meeting Schedule will be the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, January 8th
an 22nd. The Board Meeting will be January 7th. This early
notification will be repeated in the future..
