Please Note: Due to a clerical error, we have had to change the location for our Holiday Party. The Holiday Party will be held at either the Princeton Marriott or the Doral Forrestal (f/k/a Scanticon). The new location will be announced here and at the next meeting.
On Saturday, October 27, Lions Walt Caldwell, Richard Stannard and Bob Virgadamo attended the East Brunswick Lions 50th Anniversary Celebration at the East Brunswick Chateau. It was a fine affair, attended by many members of the current 16D Cabinet, including the District Governor. Seven Past District Governors, a number of local political dignitaries, and representatives from quite a few local Lions Clubs also attended. Total attendance looked to be around 200+/- people; an excellent showing for a Club with 22 Members. All the East Brunswick Lions and their spouses wore formal attire a nice touch! Once again, Congratulations to the East Brunswick Lions Club on this milestone event.
At 6PM on October 31st, scores of Ghosts n Goblins arrived at the school gymnasium for the Annual Halloween Party, hosted by old Abe himself, Richard Stannard. Wed like to thank Lion Richard and his Committee for making the event special for all the kids, with special thanks to Mary Reilly and Katie Stannard. And of course, a laurel and hardy handshake goes to Monty Hagerty for providing the cider and donuts and Roy Reinhardt for providing the pumpkins and other decorations.
Any Member who wishes to attend the Cabinet Meeting on Monday, November 26th should contact Bob Virgadamo (395-7050) no later than November 14th.
The Pancake Breakfast will be held on Sunday, December 2nd. Tickets are $6 per adult and $4 per child, and will be distributed for sale at the next meeting. Something new this year Santa will visit the Pancake Breakfast and we will be able to take pictures of him with kids for a nominal charge.
A Call For Volunteers! The Cranbury Lions are once again assisting the U.S. Marines in their Toys for Tots Drive. This year, the toys we collect will be distributed by our Santa to the children at Better Beginnings Day Care Center in Hightstown. However, due to events that took place in September, the Marines cannot give the Tots for Tots Drive their usual attention and have asked for volunteers to help sort toys at their warehouse. They are located at the Marine Reserve Barracks at the West Trenton Airport (Ewing). For available times and directions, please call Bob Virgadamo at 395-7050.
Our Clubs efforts for the Todd Beamer Memorial are proving to be quite successful. Donations are arriving every day and the Committee, chaired by Lion Howard Zogott, will announce the particulars of the Memorial by the end of November.
Reminders
Many of you have e-mail capability, but are still receiving The Jargon via regular mail. Please notify the Editor of your e-mail address by phone or via e-mail at BobV@cranbury.org. Your e-mail address will not be distributed outside of the Club, and will only be used for The Jargon and other necessary Club business. Your participation in this program benefits all of us. Thank you.
Any member who learns of the sickness or death of another member, or a members family, or any other similar incident or emergency should contact Bob Virgadamo to activate the phone tree, so that all members may be notified.
Lets help our Program Chair, Frank Marlowe. We all come in contact with someone interesting on a regular basis; when you do, or if you have any suggestions for speakers, please give Frank a call.
Advertising has become a major fundraiser, and fundraising is everyones responsibility. Please give a helping hand to Advertising Chair, Shane Shapiro; if anyone has an advertising lead please contact Shane at 860-0985.
Please consider being a
blood donor. Apparently the need is great and the supplies are low. Anyone wishing to
donate blood can contact Barbara Danser at the First Aid Station on Maplewood Avenue.
