Lion Mason Blaich was involved in an automobile collision on November 15, and was taken, by ambulance, to Capitol Health Systems’ Helen Fuld Campus, and placed in the hospital’s intensive care unit. At this writing, he is still in the ICU in “guarded condition.”
Lion Joe Addonizio’s wife, Ilene, and their newborn son, James, were hospitalized after serious complications following the birth, but are now home and doing well.
We wish these Lions and their families the best and hope for their speedy recovery.
The Interactive Member Discussion for December will be preempted by the
Holiday Dinner Dance. When the Board chose “Hobbies” as an Interactive Member
Discussion topic, no one expected it would be such a popular choice. The
November topic was Hobby Night – Part 2, and we learned more about Lions Bob
Virgadamo and Walt Caldwell, through their hobbies of watercolor painting and
ham radio work, respectively. Because there is still a list of members who
would like to discuss their hobbies, the Interactive Member Discussion Topic
for January will be Hobby Night – Part 3. A laurel and hardy handshake
to Lion Frank Marlowe for keeping these evenings interesting through the use of
his probing and intelligent questions.
The judging for the Peace Poster Contest was held on November 18th, and the top three winning posters were selected. The first, second, and third prizes went to Dana Sahli, Maddy O’Meara, and Jessica Charwin, respectively. The three young artists have been invited to our December 3rd meeting to accept their awards, and their posters, as well as the posters from the ‘runners-up’, will be on display. The Club would like to thank this year’s judges, Virginia Swanagan, Lisa Walsh, and Cindy Giradet.
The Community Room, which apparently is now known by another name, and to which we donated a large sum of money, is no longer available for our use, neither for Board meetings (due to an apparent scheduling conflict), nor for a trophy case (which was to be used for our historic memorabilia). President Ray and Lion Andre Mento are pursuing other alternatives, especially for the trophy case. The Membership will be kept informed along the way, and of the eventual outcome.
The Cranbury Lions Annual Pancake Breakfast will be Sunday,
December 7. By now all members should have received their assignments and
tickets to sell. If anyone has questions about their assignments, or needs more
tickets, please contact Lion Ed Lawson. As usual, Santa will arrive at

Everyone should get their holiday decorations up soon – and tell your neighbors. The Holiday Decoration Committee will be traveling around town to determine the best decorated house in each neighborhood on Thursday December 18. As in past years, winners will receive a poinsettia, and will be listed here and in the Cranbury Press.

The Coupon Collection Project is in full swing! Please deliver your cut manufacturer’s coupons to Lion Chris Thompson at the meetings (or to Lion Bob Virgadamo, if Chris is unavailable), or drop them off to one of the collection boxes in the Library or the Town Hall. Remember that this very worthwhile project will cost each of us a mere 10-15 minutes per week. And, let us not forget that these coupons are being collected to help military families overseas and that “We Serve”.
We have now received dates for our annual visits to the
Trenton Thunder. The Thunder have, once again, granted us a spot on their 50/50
calendar. The game is Thunder v. Mets on

Reminders
Frank Marlowe has been our Program Chair for a few years now, and has done quite an excellent job lining up speakers for our bi-monthly meetings. You can all imagine how difficult it can be, finding more than a dozen speakers per year that will be of relative interest to all our Members! We all come in contact with someone interesting on a regular basis. When you do, or if you have any suggestions for speakers, please give Frank a call, or e-mail him at marlowe@cranburynj.com . Additionally, Frank will take all members’ suggestions for interactive discussion nights.
It is important that we increase our fundraising capability
without requesting money from our small community over and over again. With
over 300 commercial locations in our immediate area, the website is one of the
easiest and best fundraisers we have. We ask every member to please try to
bring in at least one advertiser per year. Refer all advertising leads to Lions
Any member who learns of the sickness or death of another member, or in a member’s family, or any other similar incident or emergency, should contact Lion Dave Cook to activate the “phone tree”, so that all members may be notified.
