The Summer Schedule is over, please resume wearing normal business attire to regular meetings.
Although the turn-out for the Second Annual Trenton Thunder Baseball Picnic on Sunday, August 12, 2001 was not as big as anticipated, there was still a fair amount of folks who came out and enjoyed watching the boys of summer, in spite of the rainy weather. Hopefully, next years game will be better attended. Oh, and by the way, the Thunder won.
At this time, wed
like to remind all members that your help is needed for our Cranbury Day Stands, on
Saturday, September 8, 2001. Thats right, stands, plural. This year, in
addition to our regular food stand, we will also have a table on the street where we will
be selling 50/50 tickets, and, if we can work out the numbers, we will sell ice cream from
our new Ice Cream Cart (donated by a Cranbury resident). Our annual Cranbury
Day fundraiser is a manpower intensive activity we need all the volunteers we can
get! Please sign up at the meeting or call Don Herr or Roy Reinhardt
to volunteer (go ahead, do it now, before you forget).
~ IN
MEMORIAM ~
Stan Thomas passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2001. Stan was one of this Clubs greatest assets. He had been Lion of the Year, a past Club President, Zone Chairman (87-91), and Deputy District Governor (91-92). He was a member of our current Board of Directors, and has been on the Board, on and off mostly on since becoming a Lion in 1980. Stan was the current Chairperson for the Member Directory & Printing Services, Co-Chair for the White Cane (Lead) and Cranbury Day, and the Liaison between the Cranbury Lions and the towns Scouting organizations (Boy, Cub and Girl). He was always available when help was needed and volunteered for virtually every fundraiser and community service, never losing sight of the fact that as Lions. We Serve. Stan was a great Lion and a better human being. He will be missed.
Reminders
Many of you have e-mail capability, but are receiving The Jargon via regular mail. Please notify the Editor of your e-mail address by phone or via e-mail at BobV@cranbury.org. If we can send The Jargon out via e-mail, the reduction in postage can save over $300 in our annual operating expenses. Your e-mail address will not be distributed outside of the Club, and will only be used for The Jargon and other necessary Club business. Your participation in this program benefits all of us. Thank you.
Any member who learns of the sickness or death of another member, or a members family, or any other similar incident or emergency should contact Bob Virgadamo to activate the phone tree, so that all members may be notified.
Lets help our Program Chair, Frank Marlowe. We all come in contact with someone interesting on a regular basis; when you do, or if you have any suggestions for speakers, please give Frank a call.
Advertising has become a major fundraiser, and fundraising is everyones responsibility. Please give a helping hand to Advertising Chair, Shane Shapiro; if anyone has an advertising lead please contact Shane.
